Rita's 2008 Semi-Final Victory in Portloise

In 2008, New Jersey Rose Rita Talty traveled to Ireland twice. On her first trip to Portloise, near Dublin, she qualified to return in August for the finals in Tralee.

To give a sense of this accomplishement, also qualifying with Rita were Roses from Counties Louth and Caven. In the fifty year history of the event, this was the first time the Rose from either County had made it through to the finals.
